What dealership SEO costs, and when not to buy it
The honest answer is a range, because the work scales with how many keywords, rooftops and unit types you need covered, and any single number quoted without that context is a sales device.
The less honest part of this industry is that the range is usually withheld until someone has qualified your budget, which means the first number you hear is priced against what you admitted you could afford.
So here is the range, what moves it, how to judge whether it is worth it using a metric you already trust, and the specific situations where the right answer is to spend the money somewhere else.
Published pricing, so you can stop guessing
Every tier on this site is published, month to month, with the setup fee waived. Basic and Silver are orderable but not recommended for dealerships, for reasons directly below the table.

Five things that decide where you land in that range
- Keyword countThe biggest single driver. A single independent lot might genuinely need 20 terms. A franchise store carrying several lines across sales and service needs 40 or more, and a group needs 100.
- Rooftops and domainsEach rooftop is its own local entity and frequently its own site. Platinum covers two domains, Titanium covers four. Beyond four you need more than one program and we will say so rather than stretching a tier.
- Unit types carriedA powersports dealer carrying boats, trailers and side-by-sides has three distinct keyword sets, not one. Breadth costs more than depth in a single category.
- Competitive densityFour same-brand rooftops in one metro is a harder field than one store serving a rural county. Harder fields need more placements before anything moves.
- Whether you add contentContent plans run from $26 to $480 a month and are entirely optional. Most single-rooftop stores are well served by four to eight substantial posts a month rather than daily publishing.
Judge it on cost per additional unit
Monthly cost is the wrong number to decide on, because it tells you nothing about return. You already know this, because you do not evaluate a third-party lead provider on its monthly invoice either. You evaluate it on what a unit ends up costing you.
The arithmetic is simple enough to do on paper. Take your monthly units, multiply by the share that start online, multiply by the visibility lift you think is realistic. That gives additional units a month. Divide the program cost by it.
A store selling 80 units a month at 45 percent online-sourced, with a 20 percent lift, gains roughly 7 units a month. Against a $325 program that is around $45 per additional unit.
Compare that directly with what you pay per unit through your current lead sources and the decision usually answers itself. The calculator does this with your own figures and shows every step of the arithmetic underneath the result.
Never judge this on the invoice. Judge it on what a unit ends up costing.
Five situations where you should not buy this yet
An agency that talks a store out of a purchase it is not ready for earns more than any claim could. These are the cases where we would tell you to wait.
- Your phone goes unansweredIf calls at four in the afternoon go to voicemail, more visibility delivers more people into a process that loses them. Fix the answering first. It is cheaper and it works immediately.
- Your last thirty reviews average under three starsRanking better puts more shoppers in front of a rating that is talking them out of visiting. Reputation first, visibility second, in that order.
- Your inventory feed is brokenIf stock is not reliably on your own site with real, linkable URLs, there is nothing for search to find. That is a platform or feed problem and no amount of SEO spend substitutes for it.
- You are moving or rebranding this quarterA name, address or domain change resets a meaningful part of the work. Wait until the change has happened, then start.
- You need units this monthOrganic search takes three to six months to move in a competitive market. If the requirement is volume in thirty days, that is a paid channel, and we would rather say so than take three months of fees.
Four questions that make quotes comparable
- Can I see last month's links as a list of URLs?Not a count, not a summary, not a chart. A list you can click. This single question separates verifiable work from unverifiable work faster than anything else.
- What happens to the assets if I cancel? If placements disappear or get redirected away when you stop paying, you were renting. Everything built here stays yours permanently.
- What happens to a VDP when the car sells? An agency that works with dealerships has an opinion on redirects versus clean removal. One that does not will move the conversation elsewhere.
- What is the term, and what is the setup fee? Both are negotiable in most of this industry, which tells you they are pricing devices rather than costs. Here there is no term and no setup fee on any tier.
Common questions
How much does SEO cost for a car dealership?
Realistically $235 to $575 a month for a single rooftop, and more for a group needing several domains covered. Entry pricing on this site starts at $65 a month, but at 5 keywords that tier does not cover what a dealership needs.
How much does local SEO cost for a car dealership?
On this site local work is part of every program rather than a separate charge, so it is included from $65 a month. Agencies that sell local separately typically charge a few hundred a month per location for profile management and review generation.
Why do dealership SEO quotes vary so much?
Because keyword count, rooftop count and unit types vary enormously, and because a large share of quotes are priced against perceived budget rather than against the work. The way to compare is to ask what deliverables arrive each month and demand the links as a list of URLs.
Is a cheaper program worse?
It is smaller, which is different. The tiers here differ mainly in keyword coverage and placement volume. A 20-keyword program done properly beats a 100-keyword program done badly, and a single-rooftop independent genuinely does not need 100 keywords.
What is a reasonable cost per additional unit?
Compare it to what you already pay. If third-party leads cost you a few hundred dollars per unit sold, and the modeled cost per additional unit from organic is well under that, the arithmetic favors it. If it is not, do not buy it.
Should we sign an annual contract for a better rate?
We do not offer one, and we would be cautious about anyone who insists. A term commitment mostly protects the agency during the months when nothing has happened yet. Month to month means they have to keep earning it.
